Expedition Updates

This is quite an incredible & interesting journey. I first heard about this via a satellite-phone interview with CBC radio. Two canadian guys are 'self-propelling' themselves (i.e. hike/bike/row) from Vancouver to Moscow. They're somewhere in Siberia right now.

Also, I'm 28 today. Oh, and happy birthday to my twin brother Michael. (He's 28 today too. :-)

This blog is getting boring I know

So who could have predicted that almost three-months of 'sitting around and waiting' would produce a boring blog? I, for one, could not. I only wish i'd signed up to work as movie extra so that at least i could be paid to sit around. That being said, i should be heading back to Kampala in a couple weeks, at the latest (although I've been saying that for a couple months now!) and this blog will finally return to its original travel-bloggyness.

Anyhoo. I've added some new links to the 'linky linky' list. Fun stuff! Jon's Jail Journal is the weblog of a former stockbroker incarcerated on drug and money-laundering charges; Chocolate and Zucchini is basically food-porn; Knitty has cool knitting patterns; the Snowdeal family recently brought home their micro-preemie baby; Nick Nolte's Diary is the most-likely fake but amusing diary of the mostly inebriated actor. Basically this list is there to make it easy for me to get at the websites I myself enjoy, so maybe y'all will enjoy em too!

I'm going to Queen's Homecoming this weekend, which i'm looking forward too. I had originally thought that I'd be in Uganda this weekend, so its an extra-special exciting treat that I get to go.

Okay, i'm off to bed!

The night's big news.

Well, it's official.
Chocolate brown is definitely the new black. There's also a pretty high likelihood that purple is the new charcoal grey.

Also, I've come to beleive that if all political analysis was filtered through Jon Stewart, that a much greater percentage of the american population would be interested in politics.

And finally: (i) John Kerry kinda looks like a robot that has aged poorly, (ii) Dubya needs to sign up for a public speaking course at the local community college, and perhaps an improv class with the drama club. (iii) I don't really get the point of these debates. Unless one of the candidates somehow has a stroke during the first half-hour, I don't see how their performance could possibly change anybody's minds. And besides, if you are disinterested enough to still be an undecided voter, are you really going to be interested enough to watch a 2 hour debate?

Myself, I switched to nip/tuck when i realised that, as a canadian, I didn't need to inform a decision of any kind.
